The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Living Planet Symposium took place in Vienna from June 23rd to 27th. The conference brought together international experts in Earth observation, with a record attendance of over 6,000 participants. The objectives were to showcase the applications of past and future Earth observation space missions, push the boundaries of our understanding of Earth’s various systems, and encourage climate action.

Several LMD members participated with presentations and posters on topics as diverse as aerosol and cloud characterization, greenhouse gas concentration estimation from space, and atmospheric turbulence modeling.
