[LMD is rewarded] And congratulates Laure Corazza for her performance in the ‘My Thesis in 180 Seconds’ competition.

The IP Paris final of the 2025 “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” competition took place on April 2nd. Among the 10 finalists was Laure Corazza, who is currently pursuing her PhD at the LMD on estimating greenhouse gas concentrations from space using machine learning, with funding from CNES and École Polytechnique.

The goal of the competition is to present PhD research topics to a general audience in just 3 minutes — not a second more. Contestants first presented to high school students, and then to a general audience and a jury composed of both scientists and non-scientists. The aim is to showcase researchers’ work and inspire interest in science. High school students also had the opportunity to interact with the contestants during a Q&A session, asking for advice ahead of their upcoming “Grand Oral” exam.

Laure was awarded the High School Students’ Prize as well as the Jury’s Second Prize. She described her experience in a few words: “I especially enjoyed presenting in front of the high school students; they seemed genuinely curious to learn about our work. It’s really inspiring to think that we can motivate young students to pursue science.”
