[LMD participates] Deployment of the EM27/SUN solar spectrometer at the TotalEnergies Lacq site

As part of the validation campaign for the GEN1 satellite developed by Absolut Sensing for the detection and quantification of methane leaks, the LMD (Bouthaina Khalfallah and Guillaume Gille), assisted by TotalEnergies personnel, deployed an EM27/SUN Fourier transform infrared spectrometer at the Lacq site, enabling the measurement of greenhouse gases (CO₂, CH₄, and CO) by analyzing solar radiation.
The EM27/SUN, housed in a waterproof enclosure that opens and triggers measurements when observation conditions are met, provides access to background quantities of greenhouse gases during controlled methane releases at the TADI (TotalEnergies Anomaly Detection Initiatives) experimental site. To test the performance of GEN1, five methane releases corresponding to leak rates ranging from around ten grams per second to several hundred grams per second are planned during the summer.
