[LMD recruits] Marine Lanet, new Assistant Professor and specialist in climate–forest interactions

The LMD is delighted to welcome Marine Lanet, who was recruited last spring as an Assistant Professor (Maîtresse de Conférence) at Sorbonne University. Marine was brilliantly ranked first in the national recruitment competition. At the LMD, she will work on the impacts of climate change on forests (storms, droughts, bark beetle outbreaks, fires) and assess the potential of different forest management strategies as levers for adaptation and/or mitigation. To do so, she will contribute to the development of regional climate models and climate risk assessment tools, working closely with stakeholders to support decision-making in the field of climate adaptation and mitigation.

During her PhD at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) and her postdoctoral fellowship at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, her research focused on the characterization and assessment of wildfire risks associated with extreme climate events (droughts, heatwaves), as well as on the links between climate and forests in adaptation and mitigation perspectives.
